Bir yüzeyinde belirli ısıda eriyen mürekkep ( model ve özelliğine bağlı oranda reçine ve balmumu) bulunur, diğer yüzeyinde ise koruyucu ve taşıyıcı katman vardır. Termal transfer ribon üç katmandan oluşur. Ribonun orta kısmında film tabakası, bu tabakanın bir tarafında ısıyla sıvılaşan mürekkep, diğer tarafında da koruyucu tabaka bulunur. Wax Ribon Wax ribon, genel amaç ile ekonomik olarak termal transferi yapılmasını sağlayan ribon çeşididir. Kağıt bazlı etiketlere baskı alırken kullandığımız wax ribonlar uygun fiyatları ile de baskı maliyetini düşüren ribon çeşididir. Plastik bazlı etiketler hariç diğer tüm etiketlerin %90′ ına yakınına wax ribon ile baskı alabilirsiniz. Genel amaçlı etiketlemede, raf ve kutu etiketlemede, tekstil ürünlerini etiketleme gibi kullanım alanı bulunmaktadır. Çabuk eridiğinden dolayı düşük ısıda baskı alınır. Alkol gibi dış etkenlere resin ribon kadar dayanıklı değildir. Resin Ribon Resin ribonlar daha çok sentetik etiketler için uygundur. Fiyatları Wax Resine göre daha pahallıdır. Resin ribonlar en dayanıklı ribon çeşididir. Aşınmaya, kimyasallara ve yüksek ısıya maruz kalacak etiketlerde tercih edilir.Tekstil baskılarında en ağır yıkamalara dayanıklı ribon olan resin ribon alkol testinde de çıkmamaktadır.Resin ribonla polyester, polimid ,polipropilen ve polietilen etiketlere baskı yapmak mümkündür. Reçine oranı diğer türlere kıyasla en yüksek seviyededir.Karışımında karbon, bazı kimyasallar, reçine ve balmumu kullanılır. Resin ( reçine ) oranı %98 ve wax (balmumu ) oranı %2 si dir.Slwmat, Whitemat, Glosswhite, Japon Akmaz ve PP etiket çeşitlerinde resin ribon ile sorunsuz net baskıkar alınmaktadır. Wax Resin Ribon Wax Resin ribonlar adından da anlaşılacağı üzere wax ile resin kalite ribon arasındadır. Fiyat olarak wax ribonların ortalama olarak 2 katı fiyatında resin ribonların ise yarı fiyatındadır. Bazı barkod yazıcılar normalde kağıt bazlı etiketler üzerine baskı için wax ribon kullanılması gerekiyorken wax resin ribona ihtiyaç duyarlar. Bu durum barkod yazıcının baskı kafası ile alakalıdır.
